All 12 weeks of spring semester are about to wind down. Graduation is in just 2 weeks! Here's an overview of what the semester's held so far:
1. We've been participating in the Perspectives class held on the YWAM base each Wednesday for the last 10 weeks. Ryan picks up the speaker (usually a veteran missionary) at the border and Heidi takes a car full of students out to YWAMs beautiful campus along the coast. Our friends, the Magee family, are taking the class as well. In fact, they're living next door to us so we get to interact with them and their 3 young kids all week long. Its been a fun addition to campus life!
2. Earlier this month we hosted
Ecola Bible School's 7th Mexico missions team. If you've been following this blog over the years you'll see that it was a considerably smaller team than in the past, but don't let their small numbers mislead you. They were hard workers with great attitudes. The morning after they arrived they drove to Ensenada to prepare ground and build a foundation for an addition to a small house. It happened to be one of the coolest and rainiest days of the year but there were few complaints.
Ecola also spent hours working on campus cleaning the grounds and trimming palms (which can be quite painful when one pokes you), they painted one of the casitas and began stucco on the second casita. They also prepared lunch for Luis' kids and played soccer with them all afternoon. It was really the perfect day to be with his kids since school had been cancelled last minute. BBS students helped lead projects all week long. We're thankful for all their work!
3. Today the BBS campus hosted the final in a series of 3 workshops for women wanting to start small businesses. For more on this see our blog dated October 16, 2010. It was joyous to see these ladies receive their certificates and hear good stories of what the Lord has done in their lives over the months.
4. Staff and Students had a mini-break visiting
Ventana Ministries and camping along the coast this month. Getting outside of the city is always refreshing and good for the soul.
Thank you for following what the Lord is doing at BBS. Please pray with us as this year's students prepare to depart and for a full class for next year. Tell your friends and family about the good stuff going on in Tijuana!
