A few years back, Stephanie had the privilege of spending two summers at Upward Bound Camp, a camp for handicapped adults. She was fondly known as Cucumber....a nickname difficult for many of the campers to pronounce. One of the many blessings from her time there was developing a friendship with the directors, Jerry and Laura Pierce (aka Grasshopper & Muskrat). To celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary, they visited San Diego and spent a day getting to know the project here and a bit of Tijuana. Although we serve in different cultures, there are so many similarities in ministry. Just one example...they immediately recognized all the unhooked toilets that are happily being stored until the plumbing is ready; the same occured as they started camp. It was refreshing to spend the day with old friends who understand well the meaning of taking things a day at a time!
