Our family had a great time! Although we had friends strongly caution us before visiting Mexico, we were confident that God protects us there, just as He does here at home! There are apparent dangers in most places that Missionaries go. (At least Mexico is not antagonistic to Christians like some countries.)
The chance to spend time in another culture, while being so close to the US, was a real blessing! I think Baja Bible School would be a great opportunity for someone who is considering going into missions. Our daughter, Leah, is planning to be a student there next year--and excited to be a member of the first class!
