The Castillo has been a work in progress. Over the last four years, with volunteer labor and church groups, it has been transformed from one man's unfinished dream mansion to a functioning, beautiful building that will house students and guests for years to come. Last weekend we hired a team of Mexican concrete workers to put a cement floor in the main room. The unfinished floor was the last major eyesore in the building and thanks to help from Calvary Bible Church (Manzanita, OR) we were able to hire a team of professionals to do the job. They "stamped" the concrete to give it a textured look and in a few days will return to color and seal it so it can easily be cleaned.
For those interested, this was the process:
14 yards of concrete were pumped through the door...
...then put in wheelbarrows and spread around the floor...
...finishing work...
...finally ready for a coat of oil/paint thinner and then stamped for a textured look.
Final step: in a few days they'll return to stain and seal the floor
